![]() So I’ll try to expand upon what made the mystery elements of this anime so fun.Īt several points in the anime, there is an overarching question that needs to be answered. I touched upon it a bit earlier, but I feel like I need to add one more section to this review before getting to my rating. Samon’s reactions to the chaos are just hilarious, as he becomes visibly shaken. Think of Samon as the one who craves order, while Mahiro brings chaos. Samon has a vision for the world, and when Mahiro just gets in the way for some petty revenge, Samon ends up in several moments of disbelief. I won’t spoil anything, but I’ll just say that I loved his reactions to Mahiro. Much more secretive than Mahiro, which made him harder to read.įinally, I loved Samon, a character that is met a little later on in the anime. The other protagonist, Yoshino, was very interesting as well. I think Mahiro really helps this anime to shine, although there were many other characters I enjoyed. He’s violent, angers quickly, but is also not scared of putting himself out there and taking action. ![]() Completely driven by vengeance, and yet willing to listen to a well thought-out argument, and weigh it against his own desire for revenge. ![]() I also really liked Mahiro as a character. Which automatically qualifies her for the position of best girl. ![]() I also loved her hair, because of the hime cut. Of course there’s more than that, but I won’t go into spoiler territory.Īika was a very interesting character, as we get to see a lot of her through flashbacks. Needless to say, despite not being around, Aika comes up quite a bit and is the centre for a lot of the drama that takes place in Zetsuen no Tempest. She died two years prior to the start of the anime, but her legacy lives on in the form of Mahiro’s desire for revenge. One of our protagonists, Mahiro, had a younger sister, Aika, who secretly dated his best friend, Yoshino. Zetsuen no Tempest has it’s cake, and it eats it too.įrom relatively early on we get a sense of what the drama in this anime will revolve around. What can I say, this anime has it all, and does it all well. My suspect #1 ended up being absolved, only for the unsuspected to be the suspect! The mystery elements in this anime are top-notch! I won’t spoil them, but they get quite convoluted at times due to a certain factor… The satisfaction gained from just watching this anime play out made it worth the watch. I didn’t expect to watch such a thrilling and exciting anime, and not just for the action. That said, once the world design sinks in, and you get a grasp of the situation, man, what an amazing ride this anime is. There’s this stuff about a tree, and another tree, and how the world is somehow controlled by them, and there are people who can use magic, that are influenced by one of the trees, and a girl was murdered two years ago while another girl is stranded on an island… and then a lot of stuff happens from there. We start out simple enough… only for the anime to begin throwing it’s plot at you pretty early on. But Zetsuen no Tempest somehow manages to fulfill all of these roles, and maintain a coherent, enjoyable story.Ī lot definitely happens throughout the anime. What are the tags for this anime? Action, Mystery, Psychological, Drama, Magic, Mystery, Shounen… can we fit anymore? How could one 24 episode long anime fit so many different categories? I don’t understand it either. ![]() Until then, let’s talk about the final entry in this 26 anime gauntlet – Zetsuen no Tempest. How will I ever select what anime to watch next, without the alphabet to guide me? ![]()
